EHS lab inspection check-list and resources

• Every lab has a sign on the door and an Emergency Action plan inside the door
• Door signage is up to date with current key contacts
• Emergency Action Plan is accurate (names, location of meeting point, spill kit, etc.)
• Every lab worker has a Hazard Inventory on record (many will select “None,” but there still needs to be a record of an inventory completed)
• Chemical Inventory is up to date
• Record all gas cylinders in the lab’s Chemical Inventory
• Have documented Hazard Assessments and SOPs for major lab processes
• Verify Hazardous waste tags are filled out on both sides
• Send Excess waste to be collected by EHS
• All Chemical abbreviations used in a lab are posted in a list displayed inside the door to the lab
• Chemicals are segregated by type and stored in appropriate containment

• Peroxide formers (PDF) have yellow stickers and have been tested
• Acid and base neutralizers are available in spill kits
• Gas cylinders are capped when not in use
