The primary elements of our admission committee’s initial evaluation include academic credentials (unofficial transcripts are suitable for initial review), experience (resume/CV), letters of recommendation, and statement of purpose. This statement should briefly address your experience, discuss your research interests for graduate study and their relationship to your long-term goals, and name any faculty members with whom you would be interested in working. We use a centralized admissions process that pairs faculty mentors with applications after admissions decisions are made.
Program descriptions and additional application requirements for domestic and international students can be found on the Graduate College’s website. General notes about our application system are available here. Priority consideration deadlines for Fall admission are December 1 (international applicants) and January 1 (domestic applicants). Applications for Spring admission are due on September 15.
Admission of a qualified student also depends on a match between the student’s area of interest, research specialties of the faculty, and availability of professors.
